Network performance and coverage

The 300Mbps wireless speed suits households with moderate to heavy internet usage. Each of the two 2dBi antennas operates independently to create a stronger mesh between your main router and the repeater. In typical Bangladeshi apartment construction, expect coverage extension of 15-20 meters from the repeater position. The 802.11b/g/n wireless standard maintains backward compatibility with older devices while delivering full speed to newer hardware.

With support for 64 simultaneous connections, the Mi WiFi Repeater Pro handles entire family networks including computers, smartphones, streaming boxes and smart home devices. The repeater automatically selects the best channel to minimize interference from neighboring networks, which matters in dense residential areas where multiple WiFi networks overlap.

Setup and configuration through Mi Home

Initial setup requires the Mi Home application available on Android and iOS. Plug the repeater into a power socket within range of your existing router, open the app, and follow the pairing process that takes approximately 2-3 minutes. The app interface lets you rename the extended network, set custom passwords, view connected device lists with MAC addresses, and enable guest network features.

Firmware updates download and install automatically when the repeater detects new versions. You can schedule these updates for late-night hours to avoid interrupting daytime usage. The app also displays real-time data usage per device, helping identify bandwidth-heavy applications or unauthorized connections.

Design and physical installation

The black plastic housing measures approximately 90mm in length with a standard two-pin plug that fits Bangladeshi power sockets. The external antennas fold down for transport and adjust to vertical or angled positions for optimal signal direction. A single LED indicator shows connection status: blinking during setup, solid when connected to the main router, and off in standby mode.

For best results, position the WiFi range extender halfway between your router and the dead zone area. Avoid placing it inside metal cabinets, behind large appliances, or in corners where concrete walls on multiple sides will block signal propagation. The plug design means no additional cables or power adapters clutter your space.

Who should buy the Xiaomi WiFi Repeater Pro

Apartment residents with routers in one corner struggle to get stable WiFi in bedrooms or balconies at the opposite end. This repeater solves the problem without running Ethernet cables through walls. Small office managers need reliable internet in conference rooms or back offices separated from the main router by multiple rooms. The 64-device capacity handles employee smartphones, laptops and shared printers without slowdowns. Multi-story home owners find the ground floor router signal weakens significantly on upper floors, and a repeater positioned on the stairway landing extends coverage to all rooms.

Things to check before you buy

The 300Mbps maximum speed means your extended network will not exceed this rate even if your main router supports 1200Mbps or higher. Users with gigabit fiber connections should consider this limitation if they need full speed throughout the house. The repeater creates a half-duplex connection, so effective throughput to your devices will measure around 150Mbps under real-world conditions with signal overhead.

Initial configuration requires the Mi Home app and a Xiaomi account. Some users in Bangladesh report the app occasionally requires VPN access during first-time setup, though normal operation works without VPN after pairing completes. The device works with 2.4GHz networks only, not 5GHz bands, which limits speed but improves wall penetration and range compared to dual-band extenders.
